Recreation
Easter Egg Hunt
On a
sunny and mild Saturday morning the Recreation Department’s annual Easter Egg
Hunt, was welcomed by eager Marshfield
children and parents. The Recreation Department has organized an egg hunt for
the children at the Marshfield Maze and now at the Recreation Center
/ Coast Guard Hill since 1991. We are very pleased to say that Seaside Homes of
Marshfield has
sponsored the annual Easter Egg Hunt since 2002. The warm temperatures and
extra promotion brought out what is likely our largest group of children and
parents. We had a total of 275 registered children with a crowd of over 550 in
attendance.
Recreation
Commission members on hand and helping included: Jeannine Hall and Dan Donovan.
This veteran staff was complemented by members of the Marshfield High School
Student Council and Friends, including: Conor Kane, Meghan Dalton, Maddie
Bowen, Sarah Nicoll, Nora miller, Rachel Perry- Gore, Annie Porter along with
Student Council Advisor Jayda Vitez and her husband Will. Additional Volunteers
included Alyssa Pitter, Stephanie Robbins, Tiffany Cole and Sharon Robbins. The
crew helped to set up and take down the course, hid the eggs, (candy and toy),
judge the coloring contest, register participants and lead the games. We
appreciate the assistance of Chief Phil Tavares and Safety Officer Kevin Feyler
and the use of the PA system.
After
warming up with bean bag tosses, parachute games, hula hoops and a coloring
contest our guest of honor, The Easter Bunny arrived much to the delight of the
many children. The children were divided into age groups and lined up in their
designated areas. The Easter Bunny hopped up the hill and when she/he saw that all
of the children were ready, the children counted to three and the hunt was on.
The children had an opportunity to find eggs containing candy or toys as well
as one of five (5) special eggs. Inside each of the special eggs was a note,
when the note was turned in the lucky child won a $25.00 gift certificate
redeemable for a Marshfield Recreation
Department program. The gift certificates, candy, eggs, pencils etc. were
courtesy of the good folks at Seaside Homes of Marshfield. A total of five (5) children won
a $25.00 gift certificate.
We
would like to thank Christine Twigg, Carolyn Keough and the many good folks at
Seaside Homes for their continued support for this annual family event. Their
sponsorship allows our department to offer the annual egg hunt at cost of only
$1.00per person.
This
year two additional children were able to win special Easter Baskets thanks to
Tim Pesko and the good folks at Childscapes.
And
